Sony has unveiled a new mid-end budget smartphone on Tuesday, the Xperia M2 Aqua. The phone is not so different in specs when compared with the Xperia M2 that was launched at MWC earlier this year, the only difference is that the Xperia M2 Aqua is waterproof as it is capable of surviving up to 1 meter deep when immerse in water, certified with IP6S/68 rating, which is found on the Xperia Z. Pricing and availability details are not yet announced.
The Xperia M2 Aqua features a 4.8-inch display with qHD resolution of 540×960 pixels, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, alongside with 1GB of RAM. There is an 8GB built-in storage onboard that is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card.
The Xperia M2 Aqua sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a VGA front camera. Connectivity options included with the new Sony device are Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G, GPS, 4G LTE, and NFC. It is backed by a 2300mAh battery.
